Introducing our new Committee Members
Marion and Maggie
(familiar names different people)
Hi, I'm Maggie and I joined TAC last year, I took part in the Art Trail and really enjoyed the buzz around the event. My art is quite eclectic, I do a lot of tonal drawing, some word art and have just started to get involved in print collage as well as acrylic work.
This year I have joined the Committee and hopefully we will be able to deliver another great art event, with the help and support of you all. Thanks to Trish for all she has done in keeping you up to date with what is going on, this coming year it is my job to write the newsletter. This will be going out every two months, starting in February, so if you have anything you would like including, just let me know. Seasons greetings to you all.
Here is a little bit of blurb about me.
Having always had an interest in creative activities and having a background as a cake decorator, and graphic design, I have found my niche working with alcohol inks. They are a relatively new medium to the art world and have a versatility that isn’t always available with other mediums. The inks are blended with pure isopropyl alcohol to create movement and abstract paintings. Liquid gold ink is used for embellishment. I also use the inks for painting birds, animals, scenery etc much the same way that watercolours are used but the alcohol inks are a lot more vibrant in colour. They do tend to have a mind of their own and often you end up with something a little different than your original intention.
After 14 years in Auckland, I have made my home back in Taupo and I'm very keen to be involved in the art community here.
My website is www.meadesigns.co
