Translated into Paper
Exhibition at Taupō Museum
Opening Friday 9 March 5.30pm
Taupō artist Mayumi Sherburn will debut works in Translated Into Paper, her first solo exhibition. Mayumi's collage pieces are often created spontaneously and draw from blending her surroundings, mind and her Japanese heritage into her art.
In this exhibition Mayumi shows a range of collages using different media, including watercolour, monotype prints, and sumi-nagashi (Japanese-ink marbling). Some collages are colourful, some are monochrome and others have subdued colours, but all of Mayumi’s intricate abstract works show great attention to detail.
