Taupo Art Connection was formed in 2012 for the purpose of creating a network of those who love art to socialise and to share ideas and information on exhibitions, events, supplies and workshops.
The motivation and passion of the group's members has generated considerable momentum in bringing together the creative arts in the Taupo district with a commitment to creating a vibrant, active arts community that benefits artists, brings the visual arts alive and ensures a fulfilling arts experience for visitors to the region.
Taupo Art Connection has formed a Facebook group, produced successful group exhibitions annually at the end of each year, organised the annual Taupo Art Trail on Queen's Birthday Weekend and continue to spark other collaborative exhibitions, workshops and events.
This website is one of the projects that has grown out of an idea to create a Taupo 'Arts-stop-shop' to showcase local artists and be a central point of art information for visitors and locals to keep in touch with the visual arts in Taupo.
Taupo Art Connection is hugely appreciative of the funding from Creative Taupo and Creative New Zealand Creative Communities Scheme to enable this to happen.
The informal group of artists and art lovers meets at 5.30pm on the first Wednesday of each month at a variety of venues, including artist studios or galleries. Check the next meeting here. New members are welcome.
